Red flowers...oh they make me HAPPY!

After months of dark, cold and gray days (they are still here!) I really needed some color in my house. I've had this old pot for awhile, empty in my living room, I wasn't sure what to put in it. Well the other day at Micheal's I found these red flowers. I've never been one to like fake flowers but I LOVED the red and so needed some color, I bought three, then went back for two more. Bonus, they were on sale!

Touches of Christmas around our home...

Before Christmas is OVER (I'll be SO sad when it is!) I wanted to share some of our Christmas decor. I love to decorate at Christmas time!

In the kitchen, found this plate at a yard sale this summer. Just happens to be from Christmas 1977, the year I was born! My mom gave me the vintage Christmas candles this year, they were my grandmothers.

My sweet, little, RED tomatoes...

FINALLY after asking my husband (who is a carpenter) for YEARS, to build me a planter box, I FINALLY :-) got one for mother's day this year.


I was SO excited to have a garden of my own and especially to have fresh tomatoes. I love tomatoes and fresh are the best! BUT mother nature had another plan. This summer was strange here in Oregon and very few people had successful gardens. Me being one of them...who did NOT. I did get some tomatoes (and am slowing getting more). I wanted to share my first bowl of cherry tomatoes. Aren't they cute?

It's Rednesday and I've been spray painting!

As you well know by now my favorite color is RED! This week for Rednesday I am sharing a picture frame I transformed from gold to red for our family picture.

My sister gave be this picture. I love Hydrangeas but this style of picture and the gold color of the frame does not go with our home. (I had my sister's permission to paint the frame.)

Colonial Red spray paint by American Accents is pretty much my favorite color red and it can be found in LOTS of places in our house! At this point family and friends tease me that I have a "spray painting" problem!


I really liked how the original print was on a torn piece of paper.


So I bought a large piece of poster board. I tore the edges until I had the size I wanted. I then mounted our 11x14 family picture on the poster board and looked at it for awhile. Sometimes was missing. SO, I was brave and took my white scrapbook paint by Making Memories, watered it down a little and carefully (and nervously!) painted the edges of the photo. The edges were too clean before. After the paint was dry I mounted the poster board/photo onto the original mat and returned it to the frame.

Americana Rednesday!

It's Rednesday and it comes at a perfect time with the Forth of July just around the corner! I was born with a deep love for America and see wonderful beauty in our flag. Over the years I've collected little pieces of Americana to decorate our home office. Today I would like to share my collection with you. Do note that two of the pictures I shared a few months back but they had to be shared again! :-) Happy Rednesday

RED Dining Room Wall and Vintage RED Chairs

Ever since I was a teenager and started day-dreaming about my own home (yes, that is what I thought about when I was a teenager, being a homemaker!), I wanted a RED dining room. When we moved into our home late last summer, my dream finally came true. The dining room wall was a mustard orange/yellow color sponged on the wall. It looked neat but not my color or style, it was one of the first walls I painted.

I also wanted to share the three pictures on our dining room wall, by Warren Kimble, one of my favorite artists. I love his vintage charm, sometimes I think I was born at the wrong time! His pictures remind me of simpler times and often have lots of RED in them.

Now that we actually have a dining room when needed a table. We were blessed by our neighbors giving us a table that seats ten. The only catch, it didn't come with chairs. At some point I've seen in Country Living Magazine (my favorite magazine, SO inspiring!) a table with mixed/matched chairs and I really liked it. I was delighted when I found four very old chairs at a yard sale last summer for only $5 each. Two are black and two are RED. The RED chairs do need some love! I've decided to leave the old chipping paint but am going to spray a clear coat over the top to prevent further cracking. This summer I'll be on the look out for more old chairs to add to the set.

It's Rednesday!

Life has been too full and going too fast! I haven't had a chance to participate in Rednesday over at It's A Very Cherry World for a long time! But I am today. I wanted to share the transformation of my $5 garage sale chair I got last summer. I was excited when I found the chair since it was stuffed and comfy and only $5! But the blue denim is not my color, RED is my color. When we bought our couch for our front room I got some extra material "just in case" that matches the couch's throw pillows. Well, "just in case" has arrived and I used that material to cover the chair. I didn't bother painting or re-staining the wooden arms and legs, I kind of like the worn look.Before

Just wanted to share the little Primroses I treated myself to the other day. They haven't found their new home yet, will be planting them in the pots by our front door today (the sun is out, a little!)

I've said it before and I'll say it again, RED is my FAVORITE color! So, I love to participate in Rednesday over at It's A Very Cherry World. Today I thought I would share some of the RED found in our home.

These RED "spots" are in our office (probably my favorite room in the house).




This little shelf is in our entry, to the left of our front door. And my purse. I had a friend ask the other day, "Do you use that purse?" Yes, I do! The pegs on the shelf help keep the purse safe from little hands! :-)
