Standing on Peace...

Hi there! I'm SO excited to share with you about a new blog that is launching TOMORROW!

The purpose of the blog is to encourage women and support them in finding peace and wholeness through Christ in the areas of body, mind, spirit and motherhood.

I'm a little nervous yet thrilled to say that I am the writing contributor for the mind. I hold a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a master's degree in counseling. Although my primary role is homemaker, I am a part time therapist and I feel humbled to share with you about having peace of mind.

In honor of the launch each contributor is giving away 5 copies of their favorite book!

Be sure to check out Standing on Peace and enter the giveaway each week.

Please help spread the word by adding this button to your blog or sharing our link on your Facebook page.

Jilians got bangs

Towards the end of the Summer Jilian started asking for bangs. I wasn't sure what I would think. With hair I'm pretty easy going, I figure it will grow back. So I made her an appointment with Debbie, the gal who cuts my hair. I'm SO glad I did! I just love them! Doesn't she look cute?!

I can't wait until Halloween!

I know that we have just finished the first week of school but I am already SO excited for Halloween! I started getting excited a few weeks ago! Looking through my pictures I found a tutorial from last Halloween that I never got a chance to share. So to feed my Halloween hunger, here you go!

It is very simple to make these ghostly book covers. I found this amazing vintage crepe paper at a rummage sale a few years ago but you can use tissue paper or butcher paper.

Supplies:

Tissue or crepe paper sheets or butcher paper
Scissors
Black ink
Alphabet stamps
Books
A pencil

3 simple steps

1) Place a book on top of a piece of paper and trace. Cut the paper to size. Make sure to leave extra paper at the ends to fold inside the book.
2) Fold over the ends of the paper and tuck inside the front and back covers.
3) Carefully hold each book (I couldn't take a picture and stamp!) and stamp a spooky title.

Back to school fun!

School supplies

Back to school night for Jilian. Her first desk!

Jilian's best friend, Jocelyn, from Preschool is also in her Kindergarten class. Their hooks and desks are right-next-to each other, oh the excitement! :-)

Back to school night for Grace. Her first year of middle school AND public school, GASP! But she finally gets to go to school with her best friend, Jolee. They have been wanting to go together for years.

The only pictures I was allowed to get because taking pictures in middle school "isn't cool!".

Off to the bus stop, way too early. First year ever to ride the bus.

Just off the bus. Walking home with three boys...friends from the neighborhood... :-)
