RED Dining Room Wall and Vintage RED Chairs

Ever since I was a teenager and started day-dreaming about my own home (yes, that is what I thought about when I was a teenager, being a homemaker!), I wanted a RED dining room. When we moved into our home late last summer, my dream finally came true. The dining room wall was a mustard orange/yellow color sponged on the wall. It looked neat but not my color or style, it was one of the first walls I painted.

Before

After

I also wanted to share the three pictures on our dining room wall, by Warren Kimble, one of my favorite artists. I love his vintage charm, sometimes I think I was born at the wrong time! His pictures remind me of simpler times and often have lots of RED in them.

One of my favorites, an old school house

Now that we actually have a dining room when needed a table. We were blessed by our neighbors giving us a table that seats ten. The only catch, it didn't come with chairs. At some point I've seen in Country Living Magazine (my favorite magazine, SO inspiring!) a table with mixed/matched chairs and I really liked it. I was delighted when I found four very old chairs at a yard sale last summer for only $5 each. Two are black and two are RED. The RED chairs do need some love! I've decided to leave the old chipping paint but am going to spray a clear coat over the top to prevent further cracking. This summer I'll be on the look out for more old chairs to add to the set.

Today I'm linking up to Rednesday over at It's A Very Cherry World and Vintage Thingies Thursday at The Colorado Lady. Be sure to hop on over and visit the other participants!

What a difference. Love that you are leaving the chippy look on the red chairs. I also love the pic's on the wall. I have a Warren Kimble print in my hallway. I love it!

I love red, so red chairs are beautiful to me! I agree about just clear coating them to protect the paint. They are perfect just as they are, chippy and all!

Wow Sarah! Love the look. And, you're not odd. I was 10 when I started 'collecting' things for my own 'place someday'. By the time I was 18 my parents said most young ladies had hope chests...lol...I had a 'Hope Basement'.

What great chairs....I too love that look and have been on the lookout on some well made vintage chairs....I am patient and know I will find them for the right price. Love what you did with the red, it is lovely...much better than what you came in to!! Have a great VTT!

Terrific red chairs! I really like chippy furniture and have quite a bit of it. The top coat will definitely help keep things from chipping more.

I'm visiting from the Coloradolady. Please stop by my cottage for a visit and peek at the details for the three linky parties I'm starting up the first week of June.

Have a wonderful Memorial weekend!

Love your red wall. I also have a very large table...seats about 10...but right now it only seats 6 as the chairs are super wide. Like you, I think it would be neat to have a bunch of mismatched chairs and have been watching out for them lately in my shopping excursions :) Hope you have a great VTT and thanks for sharing!

I wouldn't have changed those chairs either. Just poly them for safety and enjoy.

My mother and I just pulled out one of her Warren Kimble prints from storage last weekend to hang in her dining room. It's very similar to the one in the center of your wall. I love the red wall, btw!

And the red chairs? Terrificly chippy and perfectly worn! Happy VTT!

Your red wall with the pictures looks like something out of a decorator magazine. Lovely! I hope you're able to complete your dining room with more vintage chair finds.

I like your barn red so much better than the orange paint previously on the wall. :-) Wow, your neighbors gave you a dining room table? How sweet was that!!!
:-) Can't wait to see the room all completed.
