I also wanted to share the three pictures on our dining room wall, by Warren Kimble, one of my favorite artists. I love his vintage charm, sometimes I think I was born at the wrong time! His pictures remind me of simpler times and often have lots of RED in them.
Now that we actually have a dining room when needed a table. We were blessed by our neighbors giving us a table that seats ten. The only catch, it didn't come with chairs. At some point I've seen in Country Living Magazine (my favorite magazine, SO inspiring!) a table with mixed/matched chairs and I really liked it. I was delighted when I found four very old chairs at a yard sale last summer for only $5 each. Two are black and two are RED. The RED chairs do need some love! I've decided to leave the old chipping paint but am going to spray a clear coat over the top to prevent further cracking. This summer I'll be on the look out for more old chairs to add to the set.
Today I'm linking up to Rednesday over at It's A Very Cherry World and Vintage Thingies Thursday at The Colorado Lady. Be sure to hop on over and visit the other participants!

I need a new kitchen chair and one like yours would be perfect.
I am SO glad you painted the dining room! Warren Kimble is a great artist.
Super idea with the chairs - I hope you find lots more interesting ones!
What a difference. Love that you are leaving the chippy look on the red chairs. I also love the pic's on the wall. I have a Warren Kimble print in my hallway. I love it!
Great score! Those chairs are awesome and twice as much at those prices!
With love and tender care, you will have a nice table and chairs soon. You did very well on your shopping.
I love the red chairs so much charcter. Thanks for sharing, Vicky
I love red, so red chairs are beautiful to me! I agree about just clear coating them to protect the paint. They are perfect just as they are, chippy and all!

Wow Sarah! Love the look. And, you're not odd. I was 10 when I started 'collecting' things for my own 'place someday'. By the time I was 18 my parents said most young ladies had hope chests...lol...I had a 'Hope Basement'.
What great chairs....I too love that look and have been on the lookout on some well made vintage chairs....I am patient and know I will find them for the right price. Love what you did with the red, it is lovely...much better than what you came in to!! Have a great VTT!
Terrific red chairs! I really like chippy furniture and have quite a bit of it. The top coat will definitely help keep things from chipping more.
I'm visiting from the Coloradolady. Please stop by my cottage for a visit and peek at the details for the three linky parties I'm starting up the first week of June.
Have a wonderful Memorial weekend!

Your red wall is divine and really accents the great artwork. Love the mix-and-match table and chairs idea! Hope a few more turn up for you.
CUTE! I love the little old chairs. They'll be perfect with a clear coat!

I love the red wall and those chairs are divine!
such pretty chairs you have and yeap mix and match always looks good on any simple and easy home decor! can't wait to see the full setting! thanks for sharing and happy VTT
Love your red wall. I also have a very large table...seats about 10...but right now it only seats 6 as the chairs are super wide. Like you, I think it would be neat to have a bunch of mismatched chairs and have been watching out for them lately in my shopping excursions :) Hope you have a great VTT and thanks for sharing!
Sarah
Great job with the dining room. The chairs look cute, I hope you find some more to make a collection of 10.
Love the red wall! i tried that in my living room once and loved it. Thanks for not stripping the chairs!
I wouldn't have changed those chairs either. Just poly them for safety and enjoy.
Glad to hear you painted your dining room walls red. We have red in our dining room and we love it!!

My mother and I just pulled out one of her Warren Kimble prints from storage last weekend to hang in her dining room. It's very similar to the one in the center of your wall. I love the red wall, btw!
And the red chairs? Terrificly chippy and perfectly worn! Happy VTT!
Great post, Sarah! I love the red walls and Warren Kimble is a favorite of mine. I am also a HUGE fan of the mix-matched chair look. Your red chairs are wonderful :)
Blessings!

Oh, I love those old chippy red chairs :) Happy REDS~
Your red wall with the pictures looks like something out of a decorator magazine. Lovely! I hope you're able to complete your dining room with more vintage chair finds.
I love old chairs--those are great!
What a brilliant idea...its a great way to preserve the wonderful aged finish of the chairs...they must look fantastic with those beautiful red walls!
Love everything, especially your much loved chairs! So charming!
Happy VTT,
Sally
I like your barn red so much better than the orange paint previously on the wall. :-) Wow, your neighbors gave you a dining room table? How sweet was that!!!
:-) Can't wait to see the room all completed.
So glad your dream dinning room and home have come true. Love it that you are so appreciative of the old and chippy....they still have a lot of use. Happy VTT!
