Big Vintage Jar

It is Vintage Thingies Thursday over at The Colorado Lady and today I am sharing about a really big Vintage jar I got at an estate sale last Friday. It was only $5! I've been wanting a big jar to use for ice tea or lemonade this summer. I was so excited when I saw it and even more excited that I could afford to buy it! :-) Now I just need a big ladle, maybe I'll find one this Friday.

I'm not sure what it's original use was or where it was made. There are no markings. My mom suggested it might be an old pickle jar? Perhaps...

Happy Vintage Thingies Thursday and be sure to hop on over to The Colorado Lady to see more Vintage Treasures.

I thought of lemonade as soon as I saw your jar. Great find!

That's a cool jar. It does look like it could have been for pickles.

It does resemble an old pickle jar.
What is important is it was something you wanted and will use.

Great jar - you don't find them with handles very often.

LOVE the jar! The bailed top really makes it wonderful!! I can just *see* it filled with lucious halved lemons and lemonade!

I've seen big jars like that with pickles on the counter of country stores in the south. Or pickled eggs, yuck!
Great idea to use it with a ladel, I never would have thought of that and I'd have spent a fortune having someone put a spigot on it!

Have a great day!

What a great find..I love the old pickle jar and that it has it handle still attached. You know what would ne really cute instead of a ladle?? If you came across one of the old timey drinking dippers..the kind that used to be used for water buckets and they (the ones I remember ) had long handles. That's gonna look so cool with sweet tea or lemonade in it.. Happy VTT...
