Fun treats for Easter baskets

Candy Tubes

I made similar tubes for the girls last year. Your can purchase the tubes at a scrapbook store or craft store like Micheal's. They are great because you can save them and refill them with different treats for different holidays. This year I got a bag of Robin Egg Whoppers (super yummy, hard not to eat the whole bag!).

Using my two favorite Stampin' Up punches I punched a circle and a scallop circle out of cream and pink card stock.

I inked the circle with pink ink, glued it to the scallop and added a birdie rub-on. You could use a stamp or sentiment. I then punched a small hole to thread a tiny piece of twine through. Next I took a mini safety pin to hang the tag from a piece of ribbon.

To finish the candy tubes, tie a piece of ribbon around the top of the tube. Hang the tag using the attached safety pin. Ta da!

Sorry, I forgot to take pictures of all the steps to make the candy tubes, but I think you get the idea! :-)

Easter Crackers

I saw a similar idea in a magazine for Valentine's Day and I thought it would be cute to make some for Easter.

Supplies Needed:

Tissue paper
Mod Podge
Candy
Baker's Twine (or ribbon)
Embellishments, I used mini vintage postcard reproductions and Ric Rac
Stickles
Empty toilet paper rolls

My mini vintage postcard reproductions. I printed them on white card stock and inked the edges with pink ink. Just Google vintage postcards and you'll find a ton! These are approximately 1.5x3 inches.

Cut a small piece of tissue paper and stuff it in one end of the toilet paper roll

Flip the toilet paper roll over and fill with candy

Stuff another piece of tissue paper in the opposite end of the toilet paper roll. Be sure to keep the filled roll horizontal so the candy doesn't fall out.

Cut two 10x10 pieces of tissue paper and layer them, one on top of the other. Put a small amount of adhesive along the end of the tissue paper to hold it in place. Then roll up the filled toilet paper roll, just like a burrito! Add more adhesive along the end to keep the tissue paper in place.

Gentle squeeze each end of the tissue paper and tie with baker's twine.

Next embellish your rolls!

As you can see I used the mini vintage postcards. To glue them on I used a thin layer of Mod Podge underneath and over the top. I also added some Ric Rac and Stickles, because everything is better with glitter!

I have to pick up some of those candy tubes the next time I'm at the craft store. They're really cute. Also, I love the recycled tube party poppers. Thanks for linking up with Fun for Kids Friday! Happy Easter!
