Summer highlights...part one

School starts Tuesday...sad-face...looking through Summer photos...happy-face...

 

I heart garage sales!

One of my favorite things about Summer is finding treasures at garage sales. I try to be choosy so I don't have tons have of random things I don't need. The best is when I find a vintage thingy I can't live without. A couple weeks ago I found these adorable vintage puzzles and HAD to have them. They were only $2! They aren't in perfect condition but they still have a lot of life left.

Jilian and I enjoyed putting the pieces in the puzzles.

Jilian in Wonderland...

Looking over the girls' birthday pictures from last month I remembered that I never shared Jilian's Alice in Wonderland 4th birthday party from last year!! Better, very, late, then never, I suppose!

Jilian still adores Alice and is even asking to be her for Halloween this year. Last year she had a very merry unbirthday tea party with her friends.

Before games and as guests arrived, there were coloring sheets of Alice having tea.

Let the games begin! Pin the grin on the Cheshire cat.

Even daddy played along! We were going to play croquet, but it rained, so we played musical chairs (I didn't get a good picture...)

Treat bags...

Each girl got a handmade bow. The one special boy got a bouncy ball. For the lolly pops, I took tootsie pops, unwrapped them and rewrapped with plastic wrap and tied with a ribbon.

Blackberry peach cobbler

Filling

1/4 cup sugar

3 chopped peaches

2 cups blackberries

1 tablespoon flour

Topping

2 cups baking mix

1/4 cup butter, melted

2/3 cup milk

3 tablespoons sugar

Preheat the oven to 400. In a baking dish mix peaches, blackberries, sugar and flour, set aside. In a bowl mix topping ingredients. Drop inch size balls of topping dough until the filling is covered. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown and filling is bubbly around the edges. Top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Family fun day in the mountains

At the beginning of the Summer we spent the day in the mountains near Detroit Lake scouting out our new camping spot. We are those crazy people whole look for the in-the-middle-of-no-where-with-no-running-water camping locations! It is the best!
